February 23rd,24th,&
25th, 2007 - ( New York City )
The Second Annual "Comic Con New York" hits the Jacob Javits Convention
Center in New York City after blowing the doors off of the place last
year, in it's very first show in NYC. Look for twice the fun at half the
price this year as the show is expected to more than double in size, and
look for the "Kung Faux" crew to be throwing a very secret special event
party during that time to simply say thanks to all of the comic book based
fans and community in attendance who have helped keep us moving forward.
Check the following website for more information on the show and special
events at ( www.comicconny.com
).
February 14th,
2007 - ( New York City )
Our fans have been sending us some great Valentine's Day notes this month
including these two little bits of lovingly truthful trivia that show
the worldwide reach our personal creativity can have on forces felt by
some to still be far greater in industry stature than our little empire
courtesy of the worldwide website ( www.wikipedia.org
).
Check out the following two trivia extractions from the "wikipedia"
pages, first regarding Director Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof"
portion of the double bill film with Director Robert Rodriguez titled
"Grindhouse", and then secondly about the multi-platinum selling
American rock band known as "The Killers". ( see excerpts &
links below ):
Grindhouse ( film )-Death Proof-Trivia: ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grindhouse_(film)
)
The "Skull & Lightening Bolts" logo used on the car in the
film's Death Proof poster is inspired by the the "Skull & Chopsticks"
logo used in the international kung fu comedy tv and dvd series known
as Kung
Faux, as can be seen here at the Kung
Faux fan site known as BentoBox.TV[1],
after Director Quentin Tarantino met successfully with Kung
Faux creator Mic
Neumann to discuss working together in the future on the Dragon
Dynasty brand of kung fu related film, tv, and dvd projects during
the production of the film "Grindhouse".[2]
The Killers ( band )-Trivia: ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Killers_(band)
)
The font style used for the band,"The Killers", logo was inspired
by the website logo of a company called DUBTITLED
Entertainment that shared an office in NYC with Martin Heath during the
year he first signed the band to his Lizard King Records label and began
expanding operations into the USA from the UK.
Every idea comes from somewhere and it's great to see what "Kung
Faux" and "Dubtitled" have influenced over the years, so
please keep sending us these chocolate covered bits of fun facts even
if it is not Valentine's Day, because we love pounding our chest and acting
like big shots every chance we get, so thank you again for all of the
love!
February 12th, 2007 - ( New York City )
"Dubtitled Entertainment" collaborators and ferocious "Kung Faux : Fite
Club" members "Danger Mouse" and "Cee-Lo Green" aka "Gnarls Barkley" bring
home the gold with a knock out punch last night by winning the American
Grammy Awards for "Best Alternative Album" for their album titled "St.
Elsewhere", and "Best Urban Alternative Performance" for their song "Crazy".
For more news and information on the band, their win, and their tour,
visit their website at ( www.GnarlsBarkley.com
). You know we keep telling you all to just drink the "Kung Faux" Kool-Aid
and "Join FITE Club" before it is too late ( www.JoinFiteClub.com
), but I guess it is true when they say you can lead a horse to water,
but you can't make them drink. So, don't be bitter, just be better.

May 10th,

Is the "Kung Faux" series high art? or worthy of academic study?
Some institutions seem to think so, as "Kung Faux" becomes a
project worthy of study in the "Media & Arts" study program
at the prestigious "Duke University" after appearing in such
critically acclaimed NYC art institutions as the "Studio Museum of
Harlem" and the "Bronx Museum of New York". Curators and
scholars see "Kung Faux" as a prime example of the phenomenon
of African American pop culture's appropriation and recontextualization
of Asian pop culture and especially Martial Arts into the larger lexicon
of the Mass Media and International Art. All we know is that it doesn't
suck to be mentioned in the same breath as such hot artists as Chris Ofili,
Takashi Murakami, Kara Welker, and Tenmyouya Hisashi, or prestigious NYC
Museums, and heralded Universities. ( http://www.duke.edu/APSI/events/martsconference.html
